About Us
Established in 1924, the Moorabbin Cricket Club fields a number of senior and junior teams that play in the Victorian Sub District Cricket Association (VSDCA), South East Cricket Association (SECA), and Melbourne All Abilities Cricket Association (MAACA) leagues in and around the South Eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
Managed as an integrated club across all of our competing divisions – Seniors, Juniors, and All Abilities – Moorabbin Cricket Club has a proud history based on the principles of competitiveness, fair sportsmanship, and maintaining a supportive environment for all involved in the club.
Our ‘one team’ approach results in our Senior teams being actively involved and integrated with our Junior and All Abilities teams – from the perspective of match day preparation, training, mentoring, and social interaction.
The Moorabbin Cricket Club fields the following teams:
- Seniors: Teams playing in all divisions (1st XI through to 4th XI) in the Victorian Sub District Cricket Association (VSDCA) Southern Region. Moorabbin Cricket Club also fields an Under 15 Representative team that competes in the annual VSDCA JG Craig carnival in January each year.
- Juniors: Teams in the Inner South East Cricket Association (ISEC) Under 15 and Under 17 Turf teams.
- All Abilities: Moorabbin Cricket Club fields an All Abilities team that competes in the Melbourne All Abilities Cricket Association (MAACA).
At Moorabbin Cricket Club, we recognise the significance of nurturing young talent through initiatives like the Craig Shield Team. While we acknowledge our role in the broader Cricket Victoria player pathway, we also prioritise our club’s sustainability and competitiveness. Fielding a Craig Shield Team not only attracts promising young cricketers to our club but also strengthens our senior teams and ensures our viability for years to come.
At Moorabbin Cricket Club, we operate as one cohesive unit across all divisions – Seniors, Juniors, and All Abilities. This ‘one team’ philosophy ensures seamless integration, facilitating mentorship, training, and social interaction among players of all levels. By actively involving our senior teams in mentoring and supporting our juniors, we aim to cultivate a culture of excellence and camaraderie that transcends the boundaries of age and experience. In essence, the Moorabbin Cricket Club’s Craig Shield Team represents our unwavering commitment to nurturing talent, preserving tradition, and fostering a vibrant cricketing community. Through our holistic approach to selection and integration, we continue to uphold the values that have defined us since 1924.
Moorabbin Cricket Club stands at a crossroads in the 2024/25 season. With a remarkable history of triumphs in the RM Hatch Competition, securing victory nine times between 1968/69 and 2004/05, our recent participation in the JG Craig Competition has not reflected our past glories. However, this season marks our unwavering resolve to redefine our narrative and reclaim our status as a dominant force in the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association.
Our ambition transcends mere on-field performance. It encompasses a holistic approach to club development, from the guidance of our dedicated committee members to the mentorship of our passionate coaches. We are committed to refining our strategies, enhancing our infrastructure, and fostering a culture of excellence and inclusivity at every level. The ambition for the 2024/25 season is resolute: to reignite the spirit of Moorabbin Cricket Club and reclaim our position among the elite in the JG Craig Competition.
